FARGO, ND – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeat the Milwaukee Milkmen 13-3 Sunday afternoon to earn the series sweep.
The RedHawks started the scoring early with Leo Pina scoring on a Correlle Prime RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Milwaukee answered in the top of the third inning when Brett Vertigan drove a 2-run home run over the fence to take a 2-1 lead.
Fargo-Moorhead took the lead back in the bottom of the third inning when Jordan George launched a 2-run home run lifting the ‘Hawks to a 3-2 lead.
The RedHawks added to their lead on a Prime RBI single that plated Will Zimmerman in the bottom of the fourth inning making it 4-2.
The ‘Hawks added 4 runs in the home half of the fifth inning to make it 8-2 including a John Silviano 2-run home run over the right field fence.
Two more runs in the bottom of the sixth lifted the RedHawks to a 10-2 lead.
Kevin Krause added a 3-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the RedHawks to a 13-2 lead.
Milwaukee added a run in the top of the ninth as the Hawks get the 13-3 victory.
The RedHawks begin a series with Winnipeg Tuesday, pregame at 6:10 p.m. first pitch 6:30 p.m. on 740 The Fan and 107.3FM.
