FARGO, N.D. – The first of two open houses regarding downtown Fargo’s Mid-America Steel site was held at the Civic Center Thursday night.
After two arson cases in March and April, and a variety of contamination issues, 10 buildings on the city-owned property along the riverfront are expected to be torn down within the next few months and the city is looking at options for development for the site.
Scott Harmstead is the project manager with the SRF Consulting Group which is gathering public input on what to do with the approximately 10 acres of land. Harmstad says the study is looking at alternatives that could include such things retail business, a performing arts center, residential housing, a park or a plaza. No decisions have been made yet.
The second open house will take place on June 10 at Fargo City Hall.
