RICHLAND COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) – A semi-tanker carrying 6,300 gallons of soybean oil crashed and spilled part of its cargo in Richland County.
The driver was northbound on I-29 near Colfax when he drove off the left side of the highway, crossed through the median and both southbound lanes, and ended up in the west ditch. The semi and the tanker jackknifed and the tanker rolled onto its side. An estimated 3,000 gallons of the soybean oil spilled.
The driver was transported to the Breckenridge hospital for minor injuries. The state patrol says charges are pending.
A State DOT plow was brought in to clean off the spilled soybean oil on the highway.
Colfax and Walcott Fire-Rescue, the State Patrol, Richland County Emergency Management, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash around 1 p.m. Sunday.
