WAHPETON, ND (KFGO) – Richland County plans to rebuild the county highway maintenance shop in Hankinson.
The large metal building was destroyed by fire last month. County Engineer Jesse Sedler says the loss of equipment including plow-trucks and road graders was at least $1.5-million. The cost of replacing the building has not been determined.
While the state fire marshal’s office has not released a cause for the fire, Sedler says he has been told it was electrical. The equipment and building are insured by the state insurance reserve fund. The claim has not yet been settled.
Sedler says there has been speculation that the shop will be rebuilt in another location, but he says it will remain in Hankinson.
