KINDRED – Two of North Dakota’s best high school girls’ basketball teams squared off in what ended up being very much a back-and-forth match-up. In the end, it was the Central Cass Squirrels that edged out the Kindred Vikings with a 59-58 victory.
For the Squirrels (8-0 overall), they were led by guard Rylie Holzer and guard Victoria Richter who each had 11 points. Right behind them was forward Decontee Smith and guard Morgan Lee with 10 points each. One of the biggest differences in the game was how well Central Cass shot at the free-throw line. Kindred went 8 for 10 at the line whereas Central Cass went a whopping 15 for 22.
In speaking of the Vikings (6-2 overall), guard Abby Duchscherer and center Terryn Johnson led their team with 16 points each. Following them were forward Tina Freier and guard Kacie Burner with 11 points each. The Vikings played hard throughout the entire game and will look to bounce back after this tough loss at home.
Coming up the Vikings will take on Oak Grover High School at home on Jan. 14th at 7:30 pm. As for Central Cass, they’ll host Carrington on Jan. 14th at 6:00 pm.
