HORACE, N.D. (KFGO) – Three challengers will be on a special ballot seeking to remove two Horace City Council members in a recall election.
The candidates, Naomi Burkland, Jeffrey Trudeau, and Zachariah Lee will face off against incumbents David Fenelon and Bryan Schmidt.
Upset over rising special assessments in the fast-growing community, a five-member citizens committee gathered enough signatures for the recall election. The group said Fenelon and Schmidt do not represent the popular interests and opinions of city residents. Both won second terms for the city council in June, with only a small number of write-in challengers.
Schmidt told KFGO News the city council is doing the best it can and he was surprised by the recall. The special election is scheduled for March 9th.
