CO Landyn Saewert (Wadena) worked primarily hunting, ATV, and trapping. With the increased prices of fur this fall several people have hit the streams setting traps. CO Saewert assisted a local agency with locating and arresting an individual who had fled from law enforcement.

CO Patrick McGowan (Cass Lake) patrolled Leech, Cass, and Winnibigoshish lakes throughout the week. Waterfowl hunters are reporting slow success with the warm temperatures. Enforcement action was taken for numerous waterfowl and angling violations.

CO Jack Lien (Walker) conducted routine patrols of his area woods and back roads by squad and ATV, focusing on compliance checks for small game, waterfowl, and archery hunting regulations. ATV activity was enforced as well. Additionally, Lien patrolled multiple lakes with his assigned patrol boats for angling compliance checks. The water and increasing woods recreation drew a few TIP (Turn ln Poachers) complaints for Lien. He has and will continue to follow up on these complaints, and he thanks the public for reporting suspicious activity.

CO Corey Sura (Remer) checked waterfowl and small game hunters. A public waters complaint was investigated where a contractor was found to be in violation of work permit conditions.

CO Levi Brown (Staples) investigated multiple TIP reports regarding various violations. Brown also investigated a possible hunter harassment issue but determined no violations occurred. With the cold front moving through this weekend, deer have been on the move and expects more big game hunters in the woods the closer we get to the Regular Deer Firearms Season.

ATV rec officer – vacant.
