OAKES, N.D. (KFGO) – Police in Oakes, North Dakota are warning parents of kids that are sneaking out to drink and vape around town in the overnight and early morning hours.
Police say the gatherings happen at places like the school park and homes. They’re concerned because the kids involved are as young as 7th and 8th grade. Some of the gatherings reportedly include older kids and adults, who police say are supplying the alcohol and vapes. Police are concerned that young kids drinking with adults under the influence could be taken advantage of or hurt.
Police say that they’ve been in contact with the State’s Attorney’s Office and that adults involved should expect to be charged. Increased surveillance and patrols will be watching the school park during the overnight and early morning hours. Oakes Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
