DILWORTH, Minn. (KFGO) – A former Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton High School teacher confronted district leadership at a school board meeting Monday night, calling on board members to evaluate Superintendent Shannon Hunstad following recent allegations of a toxic work environment and unaddressed student misconduct.
Jodeen Roberts highlighted a steep turnover rate among female staff, noting that 14 female educators have either resigned or been dismissed from the high school over the past six years. She also accused administration of failing to uphold student handbook standards, referencing previous reports of ignored discipline files and an incident where students gave a Nazi salute in class.
“Do you really feel that our current superintendent has made his decisions, or lack of decisions, based on what is best for DGF students?” Roberts asked. “I feel like the students I taught, the parents I dealt with, the staff that were my coworkers deserve much better than this.”
School board members and Hunstad did not address Roberts’ comments during the meeting. Following the session, Hunstad referred media to a written statement posted on the district website, where leadership acknowledged that “not every individual’s experience has been positive” but committed to listening and treating people respectfully.
Hunstad emphasized that Minnesota data privacy laws prohibit district officials from publicly discussing individual personnel decisions or student disciplinary records. He added that the district’s silence should not be construed as confirmation that allegations are accurate or that concerns were ignored.
According to the statement, the release serves as the district’s final comment regarding the matter.
