FARGO (KFGO) – Sanford Medical Center in Fargo has earned national recognition for its stroke care.
The American Heart Association has given Sanford its Get With the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Award for providing fast research-based treatment to stroke patients.
The American Heart Association says stroke is the fourth leading cause of death and a major cause of disability in the U.S.
The hospital also received several honor roll awards for treating patients with clot-busting medication and procedures to remove blood clots.
“We are extremely proud to be recognized for our state-of-the-art stroke program at Sanford Fargo,” said Dr. Michael Manchak, Sanford Fargo medical director of the stroke program. “When it comes to diagnosis and treatment for strokes, every second is vital. Our team works quickly and collaboratively to ensure stroke patients receive a timely diagnosis and treatment, which helps lead to more successful outcomes.
