GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) — Charges have been filed against a man accused of bringing drugs from Texas to the Grand Forks area.
Court records says Grand Forks County deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-29 north of Grand Forks around 1:45 p.m. Sunday. During the stop, deputies say Jose Sanchez, 51, was overly-apologetic, and that his passenger told them the trip started a different day than what Sanchez had told them. Both Sanchez and the passenger said their destination was Grafton.
Sanchez allowed deputies to search his car, and they found meth hidden in a jar of peanut butter. Sanchez was arrested and brought to the Grand Forks County Correction Center. Corrections staff found meth and a glass pipe when they searched him.
The car was seized and towed to the Grand Forks County Narcotics Task Force office, and was searched there. Officers found more meth hidden in caulk tubes. A total of 512 grams of meth was seized.
Sanchez is charged with possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for having drugs inside a corrections facility.
