(KFAN/KFGO) – It was the rubber game Thursday night for the FM RedHawks and the Sioux City Explorers in Sioux Falls. The RedHawks struck early in the 1st inning with a Jose Sermo sacrifice fly that plated Juan Fernandez to make it 1-0.
In the 2nd inning, Cole Yearsley would hit a two out double to put himself in scoring position. Aidan Byrne followed with another double to score Yearsley to make it 2-0 RedHawks. In the bottom of the 2nd the Explores would load the bases after a double and two walks. Cade Marquardt would hit a two run single to tie the game 2-2.
The third inning would feature more back and forth between the teams. In the top of the inning, Jose Sermo would hit a RBI double to give the RedHawks a 3-2 lead. The Explorers would score on a RBI single by Zane Denton in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 3-3.
The game would remain 3-3 until the bottom of the 5th inning when Zane Denton hit a sacrifice fly to score Zac Vooletich to make it 4-3 Explorers.
In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Explorers would get an insurance run when Drew Girtz threw a wild pitch allowing a runner to score from third base making it 5-3.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, the Explorers would load the bases with no outs. Braulio Vasquez would hit a RBI single to make it 6-3. Zane Denton would follow with his second sacrifice fly of the game to make it 7-3.
