Attorney General Keith Ellison said in a statement that “this is a deeply frustrating setback. I remain committed to doing everything I can to hold Said and other Medicaid fraudsters accountable.”
MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO) — Minnesota prosecutors say a man at the center of a massive Medicaid fraud investigation has fled the country just days before trial.
Abdirashid Said was already convicted in a previous personal care assistant fraud case and barred from working with Medicaid-funded companies. Investigators say he continued collecting money through other PCA businesses, which allegedly overbilled millions.
Despite warnings he might flee, a judge allowed Said to keep his passport after posting bond. Prosecutors now believe he’s out of the country.
