(KNFL/KFGO) – Just a little more than a week until the Fargo Force start their playoff push, one of their top defensemen has committed to play D1 College Hockey at the University of Minnesota. Axel Lofgren will play for the Golden Gophers hockey squad after this season, with this year being his last year of eligibility in the USHL. The 20 year old defenseman out of Lulea, Sweden, has only played one season in the USHL, but has made an incredible impact for the Fargo Force.
Lofgren recorded 10 goals, including 5 power play goals, along with 23 assists during the regular season. With those 10 goals, he’s tied for 4th in the USHL among defensemen in total goals. His Fargo Force teammate, Brooks Cullen, is also committed to the University of Minnesota.
