GARRISON, N.D. (KFGO/KVRR) — Family members say the victim of a deadly crash Friday afternoon in western North Dakota was 88-year-old Gordy Lindquist.
Lindquist was known as Crazy Fingers for his piano-playing skills and performed annually at Norsk Hostfest in Minot.
The t-bone crash happened at the intersection of U.S. Highway 83 and North Dakota Highway 37 several miles east of Garrison. The Highway Patrol says Lindquist was driving on Highway 37 when he entered the intersection and was hit by a pickup/SUV hybrid.
Lindquist, from Bottineau, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The 32-year-old Tioga woman driving the hybrid was wearing a seatbelt and suffered injuries. She was taken to CHI St. Alexius in Garrison.
Lindquist grew up near Max, North Dakota and spent 50 years teaching music.
