ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (KFGO) – Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies and the State Department of Natural Resources rescued a duck hunter from Lake Alvin in central Minnesota Sunday morning.
The Sheriff’s Office says the call came in around 10 a.m. after two hunters were in a boat that capsized on the lake north of Alexandria. When deputies arrived, the first hunter was at a nearby golf course, but the second was still in the water.
A DNR officer and deputies rescued the other hunter about 15 minutes after the initial call. Both hunters were treated by North Ambulance at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office says this is the second time in a year that its department and the DNR have rescued duck hunters who have had a significantly overloaded boat in cold water.
