(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks were tied going into game 3 of the West Division Championship Series against the Sioux Falls Canaries, but Sioux Falls was looking to take a 2-1 series lead.
Sioux Falls would score 4 in the bottom of the 1st, which included an RBI groundout into a double play by Calvin Estrada, an RBI single by Jordan Barth, and a 2-run home run by Josh Rehwaldt. But, Fargo-Moorhead would answer quickly, getting back to back solo home runs by Nicholas Northcut, and then Andy Nelson, to make it a 4-2 game. In the bottom of the 3rd, Josh Rehwaldt crushed a 3-run home run to give Sioux Falls breathing room at 7-2 after 3 innings. After a sacrifice fly in the top of the 8th by Nicholas Northcut to make it 7-3, Fargo-Moorhead would tie the game in the top of the 9th. They would do so thanks to a Lamar Sparks RBI single, followed by a game-tying Dillon Thomas 3-run home run to make it 7-7. After Sioux Falls was blanked in the bottom of the 9th, it was time for extra innings. Fargo-Moorhead got nothing in the top of the 10th, but Sioux Falls would on a walk-off home run by Jordan Barth to secure a game 3 victory for the Canaries.
The Sioux Falls Canaries have a 2-1 series lead in the West Division Championship Series, and are 1 win away from advancing to the Miles Wolf Cup Championship. The Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks looks to stay alive and force a game 5. A pivotal game 4 is slated for a 6:15 pregame show in Sioux Falls, South Dakota tonight on AM 740 The FAN KNFL Fargo/107.3 FM.
