(KNFL/KFGO) – The Redhawks were looking for their 6th straight win, as they begun a 3 game weekend series in Sioux City, Iowa, against the Explorers. Sioux City is currently in first place in the west division, and they showed why early in the game.
In the bottom of the 1st inning, D’Shawn Knowles got the scoring started with an RBI single to make it 1-0. But Alec Olund, for Fargo-Moorhead, would respond in the top of the 2nd with a solo home run, to make it a tie game at 1. After a sacrifice fly in the top of the 3rd by Jose Sermo, Fargo-Moorhead would lead 2-1. But Sioux City would score 4 in the bottom of the 3rd, thanks to a sacrifice fly by Joshua Day, and a 3-run home run by Abdiel Layer. Sioux City would lead 5-2 after 3 innings. In the top of the 4th, Aiden Byrne would deliver a 2-run double, and Juan Fernandez drove in a run on a fielder’s choice. That would tie the game at 5 a piece. An error in the bottom of the 5th by Fargo-Moorhead would drive in a run with Abdiel Layer at the plate to give Sioux City a 6-5 lead. After the Redhawks tied the game on a passed ball in the top of the 8th, Aiden Byrne would deliver the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th, on an RBI infield bunt single. That would be the dagger in the 7-6 win for Fargo-Moorhead.
Aiden Byrne delivered 3 RBIs, 3 hits, including the go-ahead RBI bunt single in the top of the 7th.
