(KNFL/KFGO) – The Redhawks were looking for the sweep this afternoon over the Kansas City Monarchs, but Kansas City was looking to salvage one game from the series at Newman Outdoor Field.
No one would score until the top of the 9th inning, where Josh Bissonette hit a 2-run single with the bases loaded to win it for the Monarchs. It was a pitcher’s dual the entire game. Kyle Crigger, the starter for the Redhawks, went 7 shutout innings, giving up 3 hits, 3 walks, while striking out 3. Blake Goldsberry, the starter for Kansas City, went 6 shutout innings, while only giving up 2 hits, 3 walks, whiles striking out 7.
The winning pitcher in relief was Jeff Hakanson of Kansas City, striking out 4 batters in 2 innings of relief. Parker Harm was the losing pitcher for Fargo-Moorhead, giving up the 2 runs that were all earned in the 9th inning.
