
(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks took on the Lake Country Dockhounds in the series finale at Newman Outdoor Field this afternoon, as the series was tied at a game a piece, thanks to a 5-2 victory for Fargo-Moorhead last night. Things would go a lot different this afternoon.
Colten Davis, the starter today for Fargo-Moorhead, would surrender 1 run in the top of the 1st. Ray Zuberer III got an RBI double in the 1st inning, scoring Brian Rey. That would give Lake Country a 1-0 lead. Chris Jefferson, the starting pitcher for Lake Country, would keep Fargo-Moorhead off the board for the first 3 innings, helping Lake Country stay ahead by 1. But, Daunte Stuart would deliver for the Dockhounds. He would get an RBI single that scored Ray Zuberer III, making it 2-0 Lake Country in the top of the 4th. The Redhawks would get nothing in the bottom half of the 4th, and Lake Country was looking to take advantage.
In the top of the 5th, with two runners on, Demetrius Sims would launch a 3-run home run to give Lake Country breathing room at 5-0. The scoring wouldn’t stop there. After a Hayden Dunhurst single, and an Eddy Pelc walk, Redhawks manager Chris Coste would pull Colten Davis from the game. Davis would go 4 2/3 innings, while giving up 6 hits, 7 runs with 4 of them being earned, 5 walks, while striking out 4. Naswell Paulino would be put into the game, and he would give up an RBI single to Daunte Stuart, and a 2 run single to Brian Rey. It would be a 6 run 5th for the Lake Country Dockhounds, and it would be an 8-0 lead going into the bottom of the 5th. Thomas Green would get Fargo-Moorhead on the board with an RBI single making it 8-1 in the bottom of the 5th inning off of Dockhounds starter Chris Jefferson. Then, in the bottom of the 6th, Aiden Byrne got an RBI triple to make it 8-2. Jefferson would eventually be taken out after 6 innings of solid work. He gave up 5 hits, 2 runs that were all earned, 2 walks, while striking out 2. He would be replaced by Trey Riley in the 7th. The Redhawks would get one more run in the bottom of the 7th, on a RBI single by Dillon Thomas. Fargo-Moorhead would not be able to score the rest of the game, and Lake Country would cruise to an 8-3 victory to take the series 2-1.
The winning pitcher was Chris Jefferson of Lake Country, and the losing pitcher was Colten Davis of Fargo-Moorhead.
The Redhawks will have the day off tomorrow, before starting a 3 game series with the Sioux City Explorers on Tuesday at Newman Outdoor Field. The pregame show Tuesday evening will begin at 6:40 PM on AM 740 The FAN KNFL Fargo/104. 7 FM.
