(KNFL/KFGO) – The Moorhead Spuds Lacrosse team has displayed a ton of dominance the last five years. They have won Section 8A 5 times in a row, resulting in 5 straight trips to the State Tournament. The competition would be the toughest this year for Moorhead.
In the Quarterfinals, #7 Moorhead would be up against #2 Stillwater on Tuesday in Eden Prairie. Stillwater would dominate from start to finish, winning 14-3. That would send Moorhead to the Consolation Semi-finals. They would end up facing Benilde-St. Margaret’s, and win 12-8 on Thursday. Today, they had a chance to bring home hardware, and they did.
Moorhead would match up against Minnetonka in the Consolation Championship today. The game would be tied up at 7 going into overtime, and Moorhead would deliver the knockout punch, scoring the game-winning goal. Moorhead would win the Consolation Championship 8-7. Moorhead athletics have already took home a ton of hardware in this 2024-2025 campaign, and lacrosse will bring home hardware of their own.
