(KNFL/KFGO) – The Redhawks were looking to even the series tonight against the Lake Country Dockhounds, who took last night’s game 2-1. Fargo-Moorhead would swing the bats very well tonight. But, Lake Country, was wanting to strike first, and the Dockhounds did.
In the top of the 1st, the first batter of the game for Lake Country, Daunte Stuart, launched a lead-off home run of Redhawks starter, Kolby Kiser. It would be 1-0 Lake Country. But not for long, as the Dockhounds would make it back to back, thanks to a solo home run, by Brian Rey. Lake Country would secure a 2-0 first inning lead. But the Redhawks were able to answer back in the bottom of the 2nd. Facing off against Dockhounds pitcher, Brett Conine, Alec Olund was the first hitter to bat in the 2nd for Fargo-Moorhead, and he would rip a solo home run of his own, putting the Redhawks on the board. Then, Parker Stroh, would tie the game on an RBI single later in the bottom of the 2nd. It would only be 2-2 for so long, as in the bottom of the 3rd, Dillon Thomas would give Fargo-Moorhead its first lead, on a solo homer. The Redhawks would lead 3-2 all the way up to the bottom of the 8th, thanks to stellar pitching by Kolby Kiser, and Parker Harm. Facing Dockhounds relief pitcher, Bryce Bonnin, Dillon Thomas would deliver again, as he scored Derek Maiben, and Thomas Green, on a 2-run double, making it 5-2 Redhawks in the bottom of the 8th. Dillon Thomas would finish the game 2 for 4 at the plate, and he would have 3 RBIs. Then, in the top of the 9th, Garrett Alexander, would slam the door, and get the save. Alexander would strike out 2, retire the side, and secure a 5-2 win for Fargo-Moorhead.
Kolby Kiser would be the winning pitcher for Fargo-Moorhead. He would go 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 runs that were all earned, 2 walks, while striking out 4.
