
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KNFL) – The Kansas City Monarchs defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 5-4 Wednesday June 11.
Isiah Gilliam delivered the go-ahead home run in the seventh inning, putting Kansas City in the lead 5-4.
Fargo-Moorhead jumped out to an early lead in the ballgame with help from back-to-back home runs from Juan Fernandez and Robert Perez Jr., Fernandez drove in another run in the fourth inning to put the RedHawks ahead 4-0.
Kansas City tied the game with four runs in the home half of the fourth. The Monarchs put traffic on the bases early in the inning and a pair of doubles pulled Kansas City within one run 4-3. Jaylyn Williams tied the game 4-4 with a base hit.
Hunter McMahon earned the win in relief for Kansas City, Colten Davis took the loss for Fargo-Moorhead.
The RedHawks slide to 16-14 and Kansas City improves to 20-8.
The rubber game in the series is set for June 12 at 6:35 p.m.
