(KNFL/KFGO) – The Redhawks have ran into a red hot Lincoln Saltdogs offense, giving up 17 runs in the last two games. That included a 10-1 loss last night. However, the story would be much different this afternoon in Lincoln.
Kyle Crigger, starting pitcher would have an excellent game. Despite giving up 1 run in the bottom of the 1st on a Clint Coulter double, he would go scoring throughout the rest of his outing. Pitching 6 and 2/3 innings, 6 hits, 1 run that was earned, while punching out 6, he was a huge catalyst in this game for Fargo-Moorhead. The offense also was producing today.
In the top of the 2nd, Alec Olund would drive in a run on a sac fly to tie the game at 1-1. Then in the top of the 3rd, Dillion Thomas, and Aiden Byrne, drove in an RBI each on base hits to make it 3-1 Fargo-Moorhead. No one would score the next two innings, but in the 6th inning, the Redhawks would. Lamar Sparks would crush a 2 run home run to make it 5-1 in the 6th. After some more dominant Redhawks pitching, Fargo-Moorhead would plate 3 more runs. Alexfri Planez would drive in a run on a sacrifice fly to make it 6-1. Finally, the Redhawks were looking for a signiture dagger, and they got it from the former NDSU Bison, Peter Brookshaw, on a 2 run home run. Lincoln would get a 2 run home run though in the bottom of the 9th, from Ronaldo Espinosa. However, it was all the Saltdogs would get in the bottom of the 9th.
The Redhawks avoid the series loss thanks to an 8-3 win in game 3 of the 4 game series at Lincoln. The winning pitcher was Kyle Crigger of Fargo-Moorhead, while the losing pitcher was Dylan Castaneda. Castaneda went 2 and 2/3 innings, giving up 3 hits, 3 runs which were earned, 5 walks, while striking out 2. Fargo Moorhead would launch 2 home runs in today’s win.
Fargo-Moorhead will run it back against the Lincoln Saltdogs one more time for the series finale tomorrow evening. The pregame show will begin at 6:45 PM on AM 740 The Fan KNFL Fargo/107.3 FM.
