ROCHESTER, Minn. (KFGO) – A former Minnesota State Trooper charged with killing an Owatonna high school student in a crash last year has lost his bid to have the criminal case against him dismissed.
An Olmsted County judge in Rochester refused to drop the charges against 33-year-old Shane Roper.
Roper is accused of speeding, going more than 80 miles-an-hour in his patrol s-u-v without emergency lights activated when he collided with another vehicle at the entrance to a mall in Rochester. The crash killed 18-year-old Olivia Flores.
Roper is now scheduled to make a court appearance next week to enter pleas to various charges.
