GRAND FORKS, N.D. – (UND Athletics) Sophomore defenseman Jake Livanavage was named among the elite company of the NCHC, earning First Team All-NCHC honors on Wednesday afternoon. Livanavage is one of six players on the team, joining Denver’s Zeev Buium as the blueliners on the team.
The Phoenix, Ariz., native had another special regular season for the Fighting Hawks, sitting tied for the team lead with 28 points and pacing the squad with 24 assists. During league play, Livanavage led UND with 21 points and 18 helpers while finishing with a plus-4 rating to rank second among all conference defensemen in league points.
Livanavage totaled seven games with multiple points, including a trio of games with three points – all coming against NCHC opponents. He was also dominant on the defensive side of the puck, ranking second on the team with 65 blocked shots while also pacing the team and sitting 11th in the nation with nearly 25 minutes of ice time per game.
He becomes only the fifth defenseman at North Dakota to earn a selection to the NCHC’s first team, joining Dillon Simpson (2013-14), Tucker Poolman (2016-17), Matt Kiersted (2019-20) and Chris Jandric (2022-23) as the other honorees. Livanavage is also the first UND underclassman defenseman to earn a first team recognition from a league since Travis Roche did so from the WCHA in 2000-01.
Livanavage joins forward Sacha Boisvert as UND’s honorees, as Boisvert was named a unanimous selection to the league’s all-rookie team on Tuesday.
The NCHC will announce its individual award finalists on Thursday. Individual award winners will be announced at the annual NCHC Awards Celebration in Saint Paul, Minn. on Thursday, March 20 on the eve of the 2025 NCHC Frozen Faceoff.
