GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND Athletics)– Graduate student goaltender T.J. Semptimphelter was named NCHC Goaltender of the Month for February, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Semptimphelter was at his best throughout the month, pacing all NCHC goaltenders in goals against average (2.20) and save percentage (.929) in his six starts. The Marlton, N.J., native also sat second in the league with four wins and 170 total saves to help the Fighting Hawks go 4-2-0 in the games he manned the net.
He was especially good against ranked opponents, grabbing two wins in three tries while also gloving the NCHC’s Goaltender of the Week award in back-to-back weekends. Semptimphelter had two games with over 30 saves, both coming in wins over Denver (34 saves) and Minnesota Duluth (30 saves) while also allowing two goals or fewer in four of his six starts.
The goaltender has watched his save percentage climb as well, sitting at .907 while his 15 overall victories this season are tied for second among NCHC netminders. His .909 save percentage against league opponents would be the highest by a UND goaltender since Zach Driscoll in 2021-22.
North Dakota will look to secure home ice for the NCHC Quarterfinals this weekend against Omaha beginning on Friday night at 6:36 p.m. from Ralph Engelstad Arena. Friday’s contest will air exclusively on CBS Sports Network and the Fighting Hawks Radio Network.
