The NDSU Bison football team defeated Montana State 35-32 to win the program’s tenth FCS Championship in 14 years.
Quarterback Cam Miller ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more to lead the Bison to a victory in his last collegiate game.
NDSU stormed out to a 21-3 lead that they took into halftime. Montana State behind Walter Payton Award winner Tommy Mellot fought back to get with one score after scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter, with a two-point conversion on the second to make the score 21-18.
In the fourth quarter both teams traded touchdowns in the fourth quarter and then Miller led NDSU on a drive capped of with a CharMar Brown three yard touchdown run to put the Bison up by two scores, 35-25.
Mellot led MSU on a drive for another touchdown with a 19 yard touchdown pass to Taco Dowler with only 1:09 left with the PAT successful to make it 35-32. Bryce Lance was able to recover the onside kick to seal the victory for NDSU.
