FARGO (KFGO) – A Fargo homeowner’s quick actions potentially saved his home from significant damage after a fire started on their deck.
Fargo Fire responded to a report of a fire just before 5:30 a.m. at 3807 21st St S.
Battalion Chief Joe Mangin says the homeowner was able to use a garden hose to put out most of the fire.
“The homeowner saved himself a lot of damage by using the garden hose. He figured he was safely able to do that and was,” Mangin says.
The fire spread into one of the home’s walls, but didn’t make it to the attic. Manchin says the home’s steel siding helped keep the fire from spreading, and if it was vinyl siding, the fire would have likely spread to the attic and roof.
Firefighters were able to use the garden hose to finish putting out the fire, and didn’t have to use any water from their trucks.
No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
