WOODBURY, Minn. (KFGO) โ Officers shot a man after a standoff outside the Target store in the St. Paul suburb of Woodbury Monday morning.
Woodbury Police say they were alerted to a car in the parking lot with stolen license plates. When the man returned, he fought when they attempted to arrest him. They saw that the man had a gun and called a SWAT team which attempted negotiations as the man barricaded himself in the vehicle.
Officers fired less-than-lethal weapons, but when the man got out of the vehicle and pointed the gun in the direction of the officers, they fired on him.
The man was taken to Regions Hospital. His condition has not been released.
A Woodbury Police officer and a Washington County deputy have been placed on administrative leave while the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension conducts the investigation.
