WEST FARGO (KFGO) – West Fargo City Commissioners approved a plan to lease the Wex building south of I-94 in order to move staff from city hall and allow more room and an expansion at the crowded police headquarters, which is now housed in the current city hall building.
The approval was 3-2.
City Administrator Dustin Scott says the move will involve a five-year lease costing about $725,000 annually for office space for staff currently working at City Hall and the Pioneer Center.
There will be about $575,000 annually in lease payments, and an additional $150,000 in annual expenses including taxes, specials, operations, and maintenance. There will also be initial improvements and fit-ups estimated at $500,000.
It’s expected to take three to six months to move to the new location
City commissioners also directed staff to move ahead to work with an architect to start the planning and design services needed for the police expansion at City Hall.
