NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. (KFGO) – A crop dusting pilot is dead after his airplane crashed into a sunflower field south of New Rockford in east-central North Dakota Tuesday.
According to the Highway Patrol, the pilot was a 63-year-old man from Jamestown. He died at the scene.
Eddy County Sheriff Paul Lies says the plane went down at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday near State Hwy. 281. The crash happened five miles south of New Rockford. Lies says the aircraft clipped a power line.
The Highway Patrol, Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, Foster County Sheriff’s Office, New Rockford Ambulance, New Rockford Fire, Carrington Fire, FAA, and National Transportation Safety Board responded to the scene.
The FAA will investigate the crash.
