MINNEAPOLIS – Despite criticism, Metro Transit does not plan to have extra train service for people heading to U.S. Bank Stadium for the Taylor Swift concert next weekend.
Swift will be in Minneapolis June 23-24, with 60,000 fans expected each night.
“When we have these late nights, people coming out after the service is scheduled to stop, that’s where we have some challenges,” Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr said.
Kerr said a train operator shortage is to blame, and added that they are barely getting by with the 85 operators they do have.
The last train scheduled to leave U.S. Bank Stadium station is at 11:31 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights, roughly the time Swift’s concerts are expected to end.
“We are very committed to the service that’s on the schedule,” Kerr said. “We hope that there are people who will be able to utilize those trips.”
