MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) – The man who was named in April as the prime suspect in a Moorhead murder has been transported back to Minnesota from California, according to Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting.
On Monday, April 17, police found 60-year-old Terry Klevgaard dead in his Moorhead apartment. He hadn’t been seen since April 1.
An autopsy by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the cause of death was “multiple sharp force injuries.”
Investigators identified 57-year-old Robert Icanberry, who has no permanent address, as the homicide suspect in Klevgaard’s death. Icanberry was located in Fremont, CA, where he was taken into custody and held in the Alameda County Jail. Investigators from Minnesota’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension traveled to Minnesota to question him in late April.
Empting said Icanberry was transported back to Moorhead Thursday by Clay County deputies and booked into the Clay Correctional Center early Friday morning.
Icanberry is being held on warrants of 2nd degree murder and aggravated assault. He is also wanted in Cass County for a non-fatal stabbing at the West Fargo high rise in March 2022.
