(KFGO/KNFL) NDSU junior Grant Nelson has declared for the NBA Draft. The Devils Lake, ND native made the announcement via social media on Tuesday morning.
Nelson has drawn the attention of NBA scouts this season. Nelson was a first-team Summit League selection this season, averaging 17.9 points, and 9.3 rebounds for per game. He shot 52 percent from the floor and blocked 50 shots this season. He scored 30 points or more three times this season, including a season-high 36 against UND on January 27. He had twelve double-doubles this season (points and rebounds), ten versus Summit League opponents.
Nelson also joined former Bison Ben Woodside with his selection to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District team District IV as the only NDSU players to receive that honor, and also earned earned All-District recognition from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) this season.
Even though he has made his intention for the NBA Draft, Nelson will maintain his collegiate eligibility.
