GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – A house fire in Grand Forks Tuesday has been classified as accidental.
According to the Fire Department, the fire at 523 N. 3rd Street was caused by the failure of an overloaded light duty extension cord that overheated and ignited nearby combustible materials.
The living room and basement sustained major damage. There was also smoke and heat damage throughout the house.
No one was home at the time and no one was hurt. Two pets inside the home did not survive, and one resident was displaced.
