WILLISTON, N.D. – The Williston Fire Department and Williams County/Williston Emergency Management were requested yesterday afternoon around 1:00 by Mountrail County Emergency Management to provide support for an active fire incident in the New Town area.
The incident was at a well pad, located between New Town and Ross at the intersection of 90th Ave NW and 55th St NW, operated by Hess Corporation, where eight storage tanks were involved in a fire.
WFD and the Emergency Management provided support from the Hazardous Materials Response Team for air quality monitoring. WFD and Williams County/Williston Emergency Management worked through the night to assist with the mitigation efforts. At approximately 10:00 pm, WFD crews began to overhaul the site to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
WFD crews were able to fully extinguish the fire at 3:51 am. All WFD have cleared from the scene, and Hess Corporation will conduct further mitigation and clean-up efforts.
