FARGO (KFGO) – The Fargo city commission wants more information before it decides whether to support a replacement for the North Broadway bridge connecting Fargo with Clay County.
The bridge was closed almost two years ago after it was determined to be unsafe.
One option, replacing the bridge using a similar design, would cost $10.5 million.
The second option would cost an estimated $21 million. That would consist of building a bridge that would be longer, similar to the I-94 bridge.
A cost-benefit analysis will be done with a decision possibly coming early next year.
City commissioner Arlette Preston, citing priorities, doesn’t want the bridge replaced.
The cost would be shared between Fargo, Clay County and the federal government.
