LINCOLN, Neb. – A North Dakota man has been arrested following a hit-and-run with a Nebraska State Trooper, a pursuit, and an hour-long standoff on Interstate 80, near Lincoln Thursday afternoon.
The State Patrol says a trooper stopped a semi pulling a flatbed trailer that was driving recklessly. After the truck stopped on the shoulder, the driver, identified as 56-year-old Kasey Martinson, of Sanborn, North Dakota, accelerated in reverse. He struck the trooper’s patrol unit, disabled the vehicle, and injured the trooper.
The semi then fled and there was a pursuit. During the chase, the driver attempted to strike multiple patrol vehicles.
Spike sticks were used to stop the truck. Martinson refused to leave the semi or listen to repeated commands from troopers, a State Patrol K9 was sent into the cab. Martinson exited quickly and was arrested. Charges are pending.
The injured trooper was transported to a hospital by another trooper, treated for minor injuries, and released.
