(UND Athletics) ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Third-ranked St. Cloud State struck for six unanswered goals over the final 40 minutes of action to defeat North Dakota, 7-2, on Friday night from the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
UND (6-7-3, 2-4-1 NCHC) held a 2-1 lead after the first period on goals from Griffin Ness and Jackson Blake, but the Huskies (12-3-0, 5-2-0 NCHC) erupted over the final two stanzas to hand the Fighting Hawks their second straight loss in league action.
Jakob Hellsten made his third straight start for only the second time in his career, but was lifted after 40 minutes after allowing five goals on 24 shots. Drew DeRidder stopped seven-of-nine in relief, his first appearance since Nov. 19 vs. Miami.
North Dakota and St. Cloud State will close the series on Saturday night at 6:07 p.m.
