WILLISTON, N.D. (KFGO) – The Williams County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a body found in a field on Friday afternoon that may be a man Williston Police have been looking for since late September.
Williams County detectives responded to the scene around 2:40 p.m. During a follow-up investigation, detectives determined that the clothing and markings on the body may match those of Leonard Higdon.
Higdon was accused of fleeing police after a domestic violence incident that led to felony warrants, including attempted murder, on Sept. 29. Police said he led multiple agencies on a pursuit before escaping on foot north of Williston.
The body has been taken to the North Dakota Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to positively determine identification, and manner of death.
The case continues to be under investigation by the Williams County Sheriff’s Office.
