VALLEY CITY, N.D. (KFGO) — Kaitlyn Huss, a Dem-NPL candidate for North Dakota District 24 House of Representatives, who was charged with simple assault on Friday, October 7th has dropped out of the race.
On Saturday Huss issued a statement saying she deeply regrets the incident. She goes on to say she behaved in a manner unbefitting of her position as a candidate and unbecoming of her own personal standards, and that she was withdrawing from the race.
While her name will remain on the November 8th ballot, Huss encouraged people to choose one of the other three candidates.
Valley City Police Chief Phil Hatcher said Huss was arrested for assault after officers were called to a bar on east main around 2:40 a.m. Friday. Huss made her initial court appearance later that day and pleaded not guilty.
Her next court date is set for October 25th.
