Kansas City, KS-The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will make a return trip to the American Association finals.
Fargo-Moorhead won the third and deciding game of the Western Division final, 4-1 over the Kansas City Monarchs.
Rookie right-hander Peyton Wigginton came up big for the RedHawks, pitching six shutout innings. He surrendered six hits, walking four and striking out four.
Christian Correa started the scoring with a two-run homer in the top of the 3rd to give F-M a 2-0 lead. The RedHawks added runs on an error in the 5th, and an Evan Alexander sacrifice fly in the 6th inning.
Alex DuBord pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his second save of the series.
With the win, the RedHawks advance to the American Association final vs. Milwaukee. It is a best-of-five series. Game 1 will be Saturday at 6:00 PM, with Game 2 Sunday at 1:00 at Frankin Field in Franklin, WI.
The series move to Fargo on Tuesday evening, with games 4 and 5 on September 21 and 22 in Fargo if necessary.
