FRISCO, TX – Former Gopher football star and former NFL running back Marion Barber III died from heat stroke.
That’s according to the Collin County, Texas, Medical Examiner’s office, which also listed his cause of death as accidental.
Barber had been leasing an apartment in Frisco located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. He died June 1st. Barber was a three-sport star at Wayzata High School in Plymouth before enrolling at the U of M. After becoming one of the most celebrated running backs in Gopher history, he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and spent six seasons there.
He spent his final NFL season with the Chicago Bears in 2011.
