VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. (KFGO/WCCO) – The search continues Saturday at Lake Vadnais in the northern metro after at least one child’s body was recovered in what authorities say appears to be a triple homicide.
The situation began late Friday morning when authorities responded to a call of a suicide at a mobile home park on the 1300 block of Pearson Drive, and that a woman had left the area with her children.
There are reports that the body of a second child has also been found and pulled from the lake.
The three children apparently are all under the age of five, according to Ramsey County sheriff Bob Fletcher.
“Our water patrol and dive team (are) actively searching,” Fletcher said on Friday night. “We do not know where their mother is.”
Fletcher said they don’t know for certain that the mother’s body is also in the lake, located just north of the intersection of Interstates 35E and 694.
The woman’s car was found near the lake around 4:00 p.m.
Fletcher said the childrens’ shoes were also found on the lake’s shore.
Names are not released.
“There’s nothing more tragic than the loss of young children,” said Fletcher.
