STATEMENT FROM WEST FARGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS:
West Fargo Public Schools families and staff,
At approximately 2:00 PM, the district was notified by the West Fargo Police Department of a community incident in the vicinity of four of our schools (Freedom, Independence, Liberty, and Sheyenne). We were advised at that time to keep all students and staff indoors. Families and staff at those buildings were notified of this change to operations.
As of 2:50PM, the West Fargo Police Department has confirmed that the individual they are looking for has left the metro area. The four schools that were advised to keep students and staff indoors are transitioning back to normal operations. Dismissal at Freedom and Independence Elementary Schools is occurring roughly 15 minutes later than usual, which includes bussing.
Thank you for your patience as we navigated this incident with our community partners.
Sincerely,
WFPS Administrative Team
