MOORHEAD (KFGO) – The Clay County Sheriff’s Department has joined other sheriff’s department’s in Minnesota by sending equipment to help people in Ukraine in their fight against Russia.
Sheriff Mark Empting said his department has donated helmets and bulletproof vests. He calls it a “no-brainer.” It’s not something that’s typical for his department but he says the donation is something that will immediately help people in Ukraine.
The equipment sent is older and no longer used, replaced every so often but still kept in case there’s a need.
According to the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association, more than 650 vests, 55 helmets, and some shields have been donated from agencies across the state in just a few days.
