WEST FARGO (KFGO) – Late Tuesday afternoon, two juveniles, one from West Fargo and one from Fargo, were arrested for threatening violent acts at Cheney Middle School on social media platforms. The threat caused the school to have students move to online learning Tuesday,
Police said that as part of the investigation, search warrants were executed at two locations. The investigation found that the minors acted independently of each other and that there are no other suspects.
Police have forwarded the reports to the Cass County State’s Attorney’s, recommending both suspects be charged with terrorizing, a Class C Felony. Due to the ongoing nature of these cases, West Fargo Police have no further comment.

School officials said that students will return to the classroom Wednesday. Families are reminded that it is a late start day.
During a Tuesday news conference, Police Chief Denis Otterness said that the threat was about a shooting and that police were placed at all West Fargo schools. Police received numerous reports about the threat posted on Snapchat Monday night. Many of the reports were made to school resource officers by students.
School officials recommend that families and educators talk to their children after the threat. That includes reaffirming safety, reviewing safety procedures, monitoring students’ emotional state, and maintaining a normal routine with students. Teachers and counselors will work to ensure a smooth return to school.
