FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – No doubt about it, Black Friday is here and the shoppers have hit the stores in and around the Fargo-Moorhead metro.
By 4 a.m., there were several dozen people lined up outside West Acres Mall, waiting to get an early start when most stores opened at 7 a.m.
Greg Kempel, owner of Minn-Dak Market in the mall, was pleased with what he saw.
“This is going to be a great weekend,” Kempel said. “It’s going to be people shopping for local products, whether it’s Big Deck Barbeque sauce, Zoob’s Nuts, or wood gifts, metal gifts, anything you can think of. It’s back home and it’s local-ness. It’s growing. Localness is growing.”
West Acres Shopping Mall CEO Brad Schlossman previously said traffic and sales were already up and mall retailers were optimistic. He said the strong numbers are likely pent-up demand by shoppers that had been held back because of uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic a year ago at this time.
