CARRINGTON, N.D. (KFGO) – The State of Missouri has appealed a Missouri Federal District Judge’s order in favor of the
Garrison Diversion Conservancy District for the Central North Dakota project which is a cost-saving option for the Red River Valley
Water Supply Project.
The state and local water supply project will bring Missouri River water through a buried pipeline to central and eastern North
Dakota communities.
Duane DeKray, General Manager of Garrison Diversion says he was “blind-sided” that the State of Missouri decided Monday to appeal the judge’s order, the deadline to file a challenge.
He is “very confident” and looks at the Missouri appeal as an “irritant” and a “hail Mary” by the state as the federal judge’s decision was strongly worded in favor of the North Dakota project order and agreed to on every point.
DeKray says it’s not yet known what Missouri objects to as no briefs have been filed yet.
